Class 1

10 October 2025

Azra: Wow! This star has blown us away with her Maths learning this week! She has shown a fantastic attitude — always ready to learn, eager to take part in discussions, and keen to show what she knows. We have been especially impressed with her growing confidence in using inequality symbols to compare numbers. She can now clearly explain when a number is greater thanless than, or equal to another, and she’s able to use the correct symbols with accuracy and understanding. It has been wonderful to see her applying this knowledge in different activities and explaining her thinking so clearly to others.

Milo: We definitely have a future gymnast on our hands! Milo has truly shone in gymnastics this week, catching Emma’s attention time and time again with his focus, determination, and impressive skills. From the very start of the lesson, he gave 100% effort, showing real enthusiasm for every challenge that came his way. There were some tricky tasks this week, including front supports, tuck jumps, half spins, and straddle bunny hops — and Milo rose to every single one of them. He showed brilliant control, balance, and coordination, all while maintaining a fantastic attitude. His hard work and perseverance really paid off, and his progress throughout the session was wonderful to see.

Belle: is a shining example of someone who listens well and shows a fantastic attitude towards her learning. She tries her best in all she does, taking on her new learning and applying it carefully in her work. She has been especially impressive in science, where she has been impressing with the way she uses scientific vocabulary when describing materials. She can talk about materials that are transparent or opaque, and she can find multiple properties for one material. She has shown real determination in everything she does, and she should be proud of her effort and progress this week.

Harry: is someone that all the staff in Class 1 agreed on straight away. He is such a wonderful role model to everyone in our class and sets a brilliant example each day. He always works hard and puts so much effort into everything he does. Not only that, but he is kind, caring, and always ready to help others. We know we can rely on him, whether it’s supporting a friend with their learning, lending a hand when someone is stuck, or helping to tidy up the classroom. We are very proud of him!

Ki Ki - has really impressed all the staff in Class 1 this week, with her hard-working attitude and willingness to do well. She has shown a real interest in her English this week, learning how to use adjectives to describe, and used this to write a Wanted poster for Robin Hood. She used sound mats to help her when spelling and used our common exception word wall to help her with those spellings. She thought carefully about her presentation, and we are so proud of what she has achieved!

Jack could be chosen every week for his enthusiasm for learning. He is always eager to explore new ideas and asks thoughtful questions to deepen his understanding. He regularly takes what he has learnt during carpet sessions into continuous provision, where he works on activities independently. This week, he has really impressed us. He created his own wanted poster for a character he imagined and practised his mark making by drawing spirals and snails, inspired by his recent art learning. We are so proud of his independence and creativity!

Freya - For her incredible work in Science! This week, we explored different objects and investigated what materials they were made from. She was an absolute whizz at this—perhaps we have a future scientist on our hands! Not only was she able to identify whether something was made of wood, plastic, glass, metal, or fabric, but she also showed great confidence in sorting and grouping objects based on their materials. She has even started to think carefully about the properties of materials, noticing whether they were hard, soft, smooth, rough, shiny, or dull. Her curiosity and careful observations made her stand out, and it was wonderful to see her enthusiasm shining through in Science.

Lilly H - For her kind and welcoming nature! This week, Lilly has been such a supportive friend, always making sure that no one is left out. She is often seen inviting others to join her games and activities, showing a wonderful sense of care. Lilly has especially loved our teacher role-play area, where she shines as she encourages and includes everyone around her. She is quick to spot when someone wants to join in but feels unsure, and she helps by modelling and showing them how. She speaks to her friends in such a kind and gentle way, making them feel comfortable and confident, and she is always encouraging others to try their very best.

Iasmin - for being a good, responsible friend to others in her class this week. She took responsibility to help others when they were upset, she was kind and helpful; and she provides them with comfort and tries her best to make them feel happy again. We have seen her do this time and time again with friends this week, and she is setting a wonderful example as to how to be a great friend.

Freddie - has shown great responsibility in his writing. He has been a sentence detective, making sure he uses capital letters and full stops in his sentence, and spotting mistakes in Miss DeCouto's sentences, correcting her capital letters and full stops. He made his work clear and easy to read. He has listened carefully in class, and has been working hard on his formation of capital letters. He knows that a big part of Class 1, is making sure we use capital letters and full stops appropriately, and he has done exactly that this week.
