Class 5

10 October 2025

Year 5 stars of the week have been nominated by Miss Burgoyne after the residential.

Sonia: Her kind, caring attitude and thoughtful behaviour during the residential made a huge difference to all the staff and children.  She checked everyone had slept well, offered to braid the other girl’s hair and checked how all the teachers were doing, every day.  She also made a point of saying thank you for cooking and looking after us, after every meal.

Vicky: her inquisitive nature shone throughout the trip.  She was taking pictures of things she was curious about and having some really interesting conversations with her friends and teachers alike.  She made the most of the wonderful opportunities available to her whilst in Hathersage and was an absolute delight to take.

Elsa - has very quickly proven herself to be one of the “always children”.  Always in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing.  She quietly and determinedly achieves her learning goals in every lesson because of her mature attitude, and this mature attitude is demonstrated throughout all aspects of school life.  Elsa, It is a joy to have you in the classroom.  Carry on being wonderful! ðŸ˜Š

Thomas - has really impressed me in all areas of the curriculum and school life.  He has demonstrated a beautifully mature attitude since the start of the year. He is unfailingly polite, always using impeccable manners and has a very positive attitude to learning, trying his best in all subjects.  He works particularly well with his maths partner, challenging both himself and his buddy with the problem-solving questions, whilst during our English and Science sessions, he created some very thoughtful questions about Earth and space.  He has shown he is a super role model and has been a pleasure to teach ðŸ˜Š

Brieaa - has really shone in her maths learning this week. She has been working really well with her talk partner and table group to solve the reasoning and problem-solving questions.  She is so enthusiastic, her hand is always the first to shoot up to share her thinking, her working out and the correct answers!  Well done Brieaa – you should be really proud of yourself and your super attitude to learning.  ðŸ˜Š

Evan - has really impressed me in all areas of the curriculum and school life.  He is unfailingly polite, always using impeccable manners and keeping note of the manners of the other children in the class.  He has a very positive attitude to learning, trying his best in all subjects and has been a positive critical friend to his work partner during our writing sessions. He has shown he is a super role model and has been a pleasure to teach ðŸ˜Š

Harri - has a double award for recognition of her superb reading ability.  At the end of last academic year, she excelled in her Star Reading Assessment, unfortunately there was no assembly after the assessment, which meant she missed out on being recognised.  On Wednesday this week, we all completed a new year Star Reading Assessment, and she has blown me away with the level she has achieved.  It is an absolute joy to engage in conversation with Harri about what she is enjoying reading, and I am looking forward to being able to share book recommendations with her in the future.  Well done Harri, I love how much you love reading ðŸ˜Š
